Almost one week, many friends and their family infected with `RED EYE' which is highly contagious.
The term conjunctivitis implies inflammation of the conjunctiva which is a transparent surface covering the white of the eye. It can become inflamed due to infection, allergy or irritation.
Both bacteria and viruses can cause conjunctivitis. The symptoms are that of a painful gritty sensation and a discharge. The discharge is sticky and purulent in bacterial infections and more watery in viral. It nearly always affects both eyes.
Infected conjunctivitis is treated with antibiotic eye drops and ointment. Both bacterial and viral infections are treated in the same way. In viral infections, the drops will prevent secondary infection.Quite often it is difficult for the doctor to differentiate between the 2 types of infection, and it is safer to assume that it is bacterial
Once infected, the eyelids should be gently bathed with tap water and a clean washcloth to keep them clean and free of discharge.A person should wash the hands after bathing the eye or applying medication to it. Beside this, a person should be careful not to touch the infected eye and then touch the other eye. Towels and washcloths used to clean the eye should be kept separate from other towels and washcloths!!!
Dear Mr Wong ,Mr Lee and Mr Tan,hope u and your family members get quick recovery! see u!!
