Xamiol is a new once-daily topical treatment developed especially for scalp psoriasis in patients over the age of 18 years. Xamiol contains a vitamin D analogue (calcipotriol) and a corticosteroid (betamethasone) in a gel formulation. The complementary modes of action of the two active ingredients support a fast onset of action and results in the long term when used as recommended.
Xamiol should be applied to the affected areas of the scalp once daily for 4 weeks. After this period, repeated treatment with Xamiol can be initiated. Xamiol is to be used once-a-day, for convenience, Xamiol can be applied NIGHTLY as part of your bedtime routine.
All the affected scalp areas may be treated with Xamiol. When using calcipotriol-containing products, the maximum daily dose should not exceed 15g (app. 4 teaspoons), and the maximum weekly dose should not exceed 100g (app. 25 teaspoons).
People react differently to treatments. Most people see results within 1-2 weeks of treatment. It is, however, important to continue with the treatment as described by your doctor. When you have been cleared from psoriasis, you may not need the treatment for a period of time. You can safely stop the treatment and start it again when necessary, as described by your doctor.
