In Malaysia,most of the patients do not know they have a RIGHT to know or ask prescriber what they are taking. Sadly,there are a few prescriber also do not like to let their patients know the name of the medicine because they can benefit theirs bank balance from the repeat prescription.YOU are a patient and you pay for it,please don't shy,here are some questions u should ask your prescriber:
1) What is the name of medicine?
2) What is this medicine for?
3) Should i complete the course or until symptoms have gone?
4) Possible of side effects?
5) What should i do if i forget or miss a dose?
6) Should i avoid alcohol or certain foods?
7) Let your presciber know if currently you are taking other medicines in order to avoid drug interaction
Good communication between u & your prescriber will minimise the risk of problems and improve your understanding about drug. So, WHY NOT U ASK??
