BENEFICIAL EFFECT OF OMEGA-3 EPA & DHA ON IRREGULAR HEARTBEAT
Arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat) is the most common cause of sudden cardiac death. Dietary supplementation with omega-3 EPA & DHA has been shown to have a beneficial effect on arrhythmia. Low heart rate variability, a predictive marker for arrhythmia, is improved with omega-3 EPA and DHA supplementation in patients with a history of heart attack and in healthy men.
The mechanism by which omega-3 EPA and DHA improves cardiac function is still under investigation. Several mechanisms have been proposed, such as:
1. modification of heart cells by the incorporation of omega-3 EPA and DHA into cell membranes.
2. direct improvement of the function of heart cells.
3. effect on the cell's production of certain fatty acids involved in a wide range of activities.
My wife got unidentified low heart rate, she had been fainted and admitted to private hospital . But the heart specialist got no conclusive diagnosis because she passed all the medical tests including stress test. Since then, she always complained about the feeling of 'going to faint' due to low heartbeat and blood pressure. Her blood pressure felled only 90/45 and the heartbeat was about 40. After about 2 years, she fainted again and ambulance sent her to government hospital. And again the heart consultant in hospital also got no conclusive diagnosis for her. After this, i found out that high strength omega-3 is good for heart health, i let her tried till today. She feels much better and regains her normal health now. Blood pressure is about 100/55, heartbeat is about 50.
Here i just would like to share about my experience, if you have any doubt, please discuss with your reliable pharmacists.
